What is a doula?

A birth doula is a trained professional who offers physical, emotional, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. My ultimate goal is for you to be satisfied with your birth experience. The choices are yours to make, and I offer my unbiased support and advocacy to help you achieve the birth you desire. I’m with you every step of the journey.

What a doula is NOT:

  • a medical professional

  • a replacement for your partner

Those who have a doula are:

  • Less likely to have a cesarean.

  • More likely to have shorter labor.

  • Less likely to request an epidural.

  • Less likely to use Pitocin.

  • Less likely to request pain medication.

  • Less likely to have instrument-assisted delivery.

  • More likely to be satisfied with their birth experience.

  • More likely to initiate breastfeeding.

  • More likely to have babies with higher APGAR scores.
